Well, I'm in Austin, and I can tell you that you already missed out on a conversation at the first event about (no joke) the "ethics of postmodernism." A reading tomorrow night for a new anthology is being held at a place called (no joke) "Ego's."
Paul, I'm looking forward to reading yours too! Since ALR is in Texas, I hear *they're* at AWP. So our poems got to go at least. I hope our poems are having a lot fun, and not drinking too much. The last time I let a poem go anywhere without me, it came back with an STD. Do you know how hard it is to get a poem to take its antibiotics?
paul— received my new copy of the book. promptly had it swiped by a friend of mine who had read some of your stuff online. hope this is some small consolation for not being in austin—that i can't seem to keep your poems in my possession for all the hungry eyes.
Paul Guest is the author of four volumes of poetry and a memoir. His debut, The Resurrection of the Body and the Ruin of the World, was awarded the 2002 New Issues Poetry Prize. His second collection, Notes for My Body Double, was awarded the 2006 Prairie Schooner Book Prize. His third collection, My Index of Slightly Horrifying Knowledge, was published by Ecco Press/HarperCollins in 2008. His fourth collection, Because Everything Is Terrible, was published by Diode Editions. His poems have appeared in Harper's, The Paris Review, Poetry, Tin House, The Kenyon Review, and elsewhere. His memoir, One More Theory About Happiness, was published by Ecco in May 2010 and selected for the Barnes & Noble Discover Great New Writers Program. The recipient of a 2011 Guggenheim Fellowship and a 2007 Whiting Writers' Award, Guest lives in Charlottesville, Virginia.

I wanted to go too, I even have a place I could stay- but maybe next time!

I hear you, Paul! My eyes did perk up though when I received my proofs from ALR and saw that you and I are going to be in the same issue. How cool!
All the COOLEST people are missing AWP this year. We'll have our own party while they're all gone. ;)
I know, Ginger; I saw that too. Very cool. I'm looking forward to that issue and reading your poem.

What are you missing, other than me?

As needed, man, I can hook you up with more copies! Thank you for spreading the good word....
Great fun here in Austin: you're missed. I was hoping to meet you as I saw you were scheduled on a panel. Ah well, so it goes. Next time, mayhaps....
