I can change it round

This morning I received my first paperback copy of My Index of Slightly Horrifying Knowledge and I can't really account for the butterfly-sensation welling up in me.  The first collections I ever bought were paperback and somehow just touching this book reminds me of them in a forceful way.  I've published two previous collections and I felt a different excitement.  I think, perhaps, that so much of my writing life has been consumed by the memoir that this feels new and charged -- a reintroduction to first love.

So is it weird seeing that Amazon carries a Kindle version?

Weird? A little. But it's all a little bit weird. In a good way.

Paul,

I bought your book today. I hadn't heard of it before I saw it on the shelf, and opened to A Brief History of History and said 'yes.'

Strange things have been happening lately.

The only thing I used to be certain of was my own cynicism.

Then I fell in love over a poemphone conversation with a man thousands of miles away who is crippled and plays me one handed piano and makes me feel like a superhero hovering above a city that's much less broken than it felt last week.

Then my poetry got published for the first time.

Then I bought your book on whim and felt connected in a way that feels foreign - nurtured, almost, by the level of truth I find reflected in your words.

Thank you.
