One of us must know

So I'm going to be in New York City next week for as yet undisclosed reasons. To you, I mean. I know why I'll be there.

I don't know how I'm going to get around, say, from the airport to Manhattan. There are the buses, I know, that have lifts but that seems extremely unwieldy for a large group with luggage. Taxis are essentially a figment. The subways are woefully inaccessible.

Suggestions?

I was going to suggest a car or limo service. Also check with whatever hotel you will be staying at--their vans are often accessible and willing to do more than airport pickups. There is also the MTA. Check this site for info. Scroll down to get info for visitors

Good luck and good trip!

Also, there are a bunch of private shuttle services outside of hotel shuttles. To my understanding some are accessible—a quick search is showing SuperShuttle (1-800-BLUE-VAN/1-800-258-3826 or supershuttle.com).

Otherwise, there's a Port Authority number (1-800-AIR-RIDE/1-800-247-7433) to call for ground transportation that should be able help you with this.

Good luck.

Hi Paul,

I also recommend the car/limo service, just to make sure that you have one that can works for you. I haven't used one in NYC, but this is probably the option I would choose.

Hope this helps! And, I'm looking forward to details of your trip, I have an inkling I know why you're going. Peter G.
