Minus

Scene from Dr. Mister Cute Wheelchair Man's office:

Student: Dr. Guest! Dr. Guest! You gave me an F!

(Note: many of them insist on calling me Dr.; I've given up on correcting them. Also, imagine thick sludge of Southern: my last name becomes two syllables; 'F' sounds something like 'ayy-eff'.)

Me: I know!

Student: I didn't think you'd give me an F, Dr. Guest!

Me: What did I say I'd give you?

Student: An F!

Me: Well, there you go.

I totally wish I was a teacher!

I don't suppose "Guest" comes out "gayest"?

Oh, it does. I know the accent well:

Doc-tur Gay-ust! Doc-tur Gay-ust!

Oh how I do miss my dear Middle Georgia.

"Gayest" is pretty close to the sound of it, though it rolls a bit more.

Nick! You're missed here.

Do you have an accent Paul? If so, what kind? Do you have any work online that is in sound file form?

Glen:

I don't think you know what you are saying, so I will forgive you.

As for the accent, I think it comes off a bit like:

Geh-ust.

As for the student: I am constantly surprised to hear certain students ask me for 'extra work' once they learn they are failing for not doing the work I assigned in the first place.

Courage, Dr. Guest, courage.
