Is A Bigger Bang the newest Rolling Stones? Any good?

It's surprisingly good. I like it a lot, actually. A bit overlong, but I am surprised by how much I like it.

A womanless weekend, then?

No Lucinda? No PJ? No Patsy? No Cat? (listening to Itchy Head by Cat Power as I type this...)

Really, Paul, next weekend, you ought to inject a female voice or two into the mix.

And honestly, I neither a girl nor a grrrrl, neither a fatalist nor a feminist. (okay, so I'm a closeted feminist....)

Despite the lack of women, it still looks like a tasty mix of tunes.

Do you know about Pandora.com. Paul? That's what I'm listening to right now. Started out with Halo by Depeche Mode, then onto Alphaville, then Cat, then someone named Damien Jurado, then Band of Horses and now Sebadoh. Nice way to hear bands I've never heard of plus listen to the bands I love love love.

Hope you're having a lovely, tuneful weekend, sir. Here, the bees are buzzing and the trees are blossoming. Life is beautiful.

(as Willie comes through my computer singing Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain....) (smile)

Ray Charles is singing "Georgia on My Mind" as I type this.

Lucinda was just the other day. PJ too!

Oh, Lucinda. If I could open my mouth and have a voice come out, it would be hers. Hers or Courtney Loves. I like a voice that sounds ragged and wrecked by life, ya know?

PJ. God, I love her.

(listening to to Rise up with Fists!! by Jenny Lewis & the Watson Twins as I type this....)

(god, I love Pandora.com)

Have you ever seen Lucinda live? You should if you get a chance. I saw her in Atlanta once.

I *love* her.

Oh man, a friend of mine sings and plays Lucinda's "Can't let go" and kicks it. I love it. She has a "ragged, wrecked" voice as lkd puts it and grandly pulls that song off.

Sorry 'bout the deletion. My bad. Ever since my 3 day migraine, I've been committing the most heinous grammatical and spelling gaffs while typing out even the simplest sentences. It's weird.

So, 2nd time's a charm (or as I just typed: Second charm's a time...)(sigh):

I haven't seen her live. Saw her on Austin City Limits though. Helluva show.

I like to listen to her (and Johnny Cash, specifically, his last album) when I'm driving through the dark alone.

I don't want anyone to see my face when Johnny sings Trent Reznor's song:

"I hurt myself today
to see if I still feel
I focus on the pain
the only thing that's real
the needle tears a hole
the old familiar sting
try to kill it all away
but I remember everything
what have I become?
my sweetest friend
everyone I know
goes away in the end..."

Melissa, does your friend sing Hurt? If she's got a voice like Lucinda's, maybe she should...

You know Lucinda is poet Milner Williams' daughter?

-Ali, who just messed up the Bangles on karaoke night

I do know that, Ali. I think Lucinda's the better poet.

You messed up the Bangles? That makes me just a little bit sad...

;)
